Beyond Economic Repair Policy
Below is a typical 'Beyond Economic Repair' Policy as used by ATM in conjunction with our Hardware Maintenance Services. However this policy may vary according to the exact nature of your contract with ATM and, as with all of ATM's services, will be designed to meet your needs whilst making the contract acceptable to both parties.
The Policy
As a matter of course ATM will at times deem that equipment for which we have received maintenance monies is Beyond Economic Repair.
This situation may occur under several circumstances, some of which will be chargeable to the customer.
Our policy with respect to this matter is as follows:
- If, for whatever reason ATM is unable to effect a repair through its normal methods, an offer to either replace the device with an equivalent, or to credit up to the full value of the repair/ replacement (which ever is the lower). Full value of the repair is determined as; either the cost of the parts used to effect the repair, or the cost of subcontracting the same.
This may be used against the purchase of a replacement and more up to date device.
An example of this would be where spare parts are no longer available from the manufacturer.
In the following circumstances the call will be chargeable:
- Should the product be physically damaged. It should be noted that the costs of the repair of equipment in these circumstances may be recouped by the customer from their insurance cover.
- Should the product in the opinion of ATM become unserviceable, including the circumstance where it has reached the end of its manufacturer's stated life, we would provide a quotation to refurbish or replace the product. If neither was acceptable, ATM would give notice to remove this product from contract.
- In all cases above, REPLACEMENT equipment will only be SOLD to the client as long as our relationship allows us to do this. In the circumstances where ATM have been contracted through a third party, or that there is a "Non Supply" agreement in place, we would refer to the supplier concerned.
- When it is apparent that the equipment is subject to one of the above circumstances, it should be reported to Logistics, who will submit the options and costs available to the Area Controller to resolve the mater with the customer.
